Introduced in 1934, the Patek Philippe Ref. 130 remained in production until the middle of the 1960's. The timeless design is directly inspired by the first Calatrava, the Reference 96, introduced just two years earlier.
The watch was produced in stainless steel, pink and white gold but is better known for its classic yellow gold declination, as the present lot.
The quality of the piece is a testament to the golden era of watchmaking. The gold cases were made by Vichet, one of the finest case makers of that period which also produced the cases of the References 1526 and 1518. The dials were made by the celebrated Stern Frères. The movements, based on the Valjoux cal. 13, show the traditional finish and were hand mounted.
