Description
NIKE, NIKE SB DUNK LOW PRO, SIZE 9
Rubber, Leather, Cotton
2006
Released in 2006, the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Puff n Stuff’ was inspired by the 1970s children’s TV show, H.R. Pufnstuf. Vibrant colors reminiscent of the main character, H.R. Pufnstuff, a dragon and mayor of Living Island, were featured in the design. The suede sneaker incorporated color blocks representing key elements of the character, such as the red heel for his hair, yellow panels for his skin, and green for his clothes. Additionally, the blue Swoosh was a nod to the mayoral ribbon worn by H.R. Pufnstuf across his chest.
Offered in this lot, is a unique single shoe sample of the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro 'Puff N Stuff'. Dressed in an identical colorblocking pattern to the wider release, the most notable difference, is the use of leather on the upper, a design detail that was ultimately changed. The shoe features the familiar blue Swoosh in suede.
The Nike SB Dunk made its formal debut in 2002 when Nike officially reworked the famed Dunk basketball sneaker originally designed in the 1980s with upgrades suited for the skateboarding community. The man behind it, former Nike executive Sandy Bodecker, is credited with building one of Nike’s most beloved subdivisions in the early 2000s with the Nike SB line.
