The Butler family of Dublin furniture makers was probably established as early as 1829. In 1877 they were recorded at 29 Upper Liffey Street and eventually relocated to 127 Upper Abbey Street. By the end of the century it is thought they had over 80 employees working in the shop. They produced furniture in the George II and III styles and sold antique furniture as well.
