In the end of 1980s Komar and Melamid worked at a brass foundry in Bayonne, a small American town, depicting working class labor. In these polyptychs, images of industrial dumps are connected with images from the unconscious of the artists and from the world art history– depictions of labor from Meunier to socialist realism of Soviet artists.
