Description

Château Latour 1970

Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé

Good level, label soiled, slightly worn and damaged at top; Etiquette salie, légèrement usée et déchirée en haut

On New Year's Eve 2022 and from our own stock, an incredibly vivacious, cedary/leathery /mysterious bouquet - and amazingly fresh too. Then watch for that touch of woodsmoke. Velvet black liquorice on the palate, gummy and full of glycerol - only Latour on the Left Bank reached these heights in 1970. It took time....but now we have this, in all its splendour, power and succulence. Dig deep into it and feel the sheer majesty of this wine. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

With impeccable provenance, most of the wines were sourced directly at the properties since the 1970s. Rarities include Magnum of Latour 1926 and Yquem 1945, together with a vast array of pre War Burgundy in perfect condition from Louis Latour from legendary vintages such as 1919, 1929, 1947 and 1949. Other highlights include 60s and 70s Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne together with a rare offering of Spirits including rare Bally Rhum from 1929 and 1939
