declaring that Miss Ehrhardt has sung him an aria by Kreutzer and thus given him the opportunity to convince himself of the truth of the glowing references she has from various musicians, and wishing, as well as predicting, her happiness and success in her future career


Fräulein Josephine Rosa Ehrhardt hat mir eine Arie von Kreutzer vorgesungen, und mir dadurch Gelegenheit gegeben mich von der Wahrhei[t] der belobenden Atteste, welch[e] Sie [sic] von verschiednen Tonkünstler[n] besitzt, zu überzeugen...


1 page, apparently cut down from a larger leaf (16.3 x 18.8cm), black wax seal, Leipzig, 23 March 1843, laid down on card, vertical and horizontal folds, slightly affecting text and signature, small tears to margins, dust-staining


This characteristically elegantly-worded document, with a bold signature, dates from around a fortnight before the opening of the Leipzig Conservatory (on 3 April 1843).
