Five autograph letters signed by Joachim, Saint-Saëns, Bazzini and Casals

JOSEPH JOACHIM. Good autograph letter about Brahms, signed with initials, to Avé Lallemant, expressing his delight at finally seeing Brahms’s first orchestral works in print (the Serenades and the First Piano Concerto), pointing out that insulting reviews of them in the journal Signale and elsewhere are only to be expected, and discussing dates of his concerts with Clara Schumann, mentioning Otten and Grimm ("...Ich habe mich sehr gefreut endlich Johannes Sachen für Orchester gedruckt vor mir zu sehen. Nun können sie getrost von den 'Signale' und andern oberflächlichen Gesellen verschimpfirt werden..."), 3 pages, 8vo (22 x 14cm), integral autograph address-panel, remains of seal, postmarked, (with an envelope for another letter), Hanover, 2 January [1861]--CAMILLE SAINT SAENS. Two autograph letters, one to the conductor Albert Carré about La Princesse jaune (1872), asking whether it is really still relevant, discussing whether his early ballet Gavotte and the opera Phryné, are worth a place in the repertory, the other about an musical instrument and Aquilino Barba, 4 pages, 8vo & oblong 4to (c.17.5 x 22cm), embossed monogram, date-stamp 21 October 1904, 19 and 20 October [1904]--ANTONIO BAZZINI. Fine autograph letter in French, to a journalist, describing his career and his many concert-tours, including playing with Liszt, 4 pages, 8vo (20.5 x 13cm), Paris, 6 April 1858--PABLO CASALS. Autograph letter signed (“Pablo Casals”) to the composer Emánuel Moór, about playing his music, 2 pages, 4to (c.29 x 20.5cm), printed stationery of the Hotel Wiedenhof, Elberfeld, 21 October 1911
