Nicolás García Uriburu is an Argentinean artist known for his projects related to Land Art. Deeply committed to the environmental cause, he mobilizes elements from the natural environment in order to raise awareness on current ecological issues. Untitled is made of thorns incorporated in a large canvas. The latter are wrapped in paint and appear to be deeply rooted in the composition. Thus, beyond the apparent opposition between nature and culture, Uriburu creates a work in which these two worlds are united.

The green touches that encompass the orange background recall one of the artist's projects which consisted in coloring the Grand Canal during the Venice Biennale in June 1968. By restoring the canal’s bright colors, García Uriburu denounces the disruption of nature due to human activity. Although from 1982 onwards the artist devoted himself to painting, certain aspects of his large-scale projects resurface in his pictorial works.
