12mo (141 x 75 mm). Half-title, woodcut vignette to title, woodcut headpiece and initial; faint browning to a few leaves, spot to lower margin of M2, one or two other faint marginal stains. Contemporary full French red morocco, covers with triple gilt rules and small rosettes at each corner, central arms of Marquise de Pompadour in gilt to upper and lower covers, spine with raised bands in six compartments, second and third gilt lettered, others with elaborate floral and filigree motif in gilt, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers.

Marquise de Pompadour is perhaps best-remembered as the official chief mistress of King Louis XV. She remained influential as court favorite until her death in 1764.
