3 volumes, 12mo (152 x 90 mm). Additional engraved title in volume I, engraved plates (mostly double-page, some folding), occasional woodcut illustrations, and with an engraved portrait frontispiece and folding map “Cartes des Isles du Japon” in volume 3; occasional pale spotting and some minor instances of wormholing, volume I with tear to leaf **2, volume 2 with leaves A4-A9 in nearly loose but holding at the top of the gutter, ownership markings and inscriptions to titles and endpapers. Near contemporary speckled calf, gilt spines. General light rubbing and wear mostly to extremities, a bit of staining to boards, spines with some superficial cracking, altogether a well preserved set. 

An early, small format edition in French of Tavernier’s extensive account of his voyages to Persia and the East. The third volume, present here, was issued in 1681 and contains the “Receuil” and “Seraglio.”
