Neapolitan Fisherboy
white marble
95.5cm., 37⅝in.
Cesare Lapini was renowned for his elaborately carved allegorical subjects and genre figures of children, including the present marble. This finely carved sculpture of a Fisherboy is a good example of Lapini's work that demonstrates his skill in conveying traditional Italian costume. The present figure relates to other unique compositions by Lapini, including La Serenata, and Quanto Ti Vo' Bene.
