There, he studied under Shankar Balwant Palsikar, a member of the Bombay Group of Artists and a highly respected teacher at JJ. In 1961, Das held his first one man show of paintings in his home of Orissa. Since then, Das has held further solo exhibitions across India and abroad, in cities such as Helsinki, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Berlin, London, Dubai and San Francisco, and notably at the Paris and Venice biennales (1971 and 78, respectively), and at Documenta, Kassel (1975).
