Description

Malcolm McLaren

Double sided handbill for Anarchy in the UK, or the 'Oliver Twist Manifesto', 25 December 1977

(420 x 320mm.)

Created for their last British concert on Christmas Day, which was to be the band's final UK performance before they split, this powerful statement incorporates Dickensian references of street urchins and is signed 'Oliver Twist', underlining McLaren's aspiration for the Sex Pistols as teenage Situationist anarchists. "...to jump right out of the 20th Century as fast as you possibly can in order to create an environment that you can truthfully run wild in."
