A fine bamen [chamfron]

Edo period, 19th century 


the chamfron boldly modelled in the form of a dragon's head, decorated overall in black lacquer and gold leaf, cheek guards, the underside with red and silver lacquer to the dragon's mouth and teeth, with a fitted wood storage box
