the Myochin School black lacquered face mask resembling the face of an elderly man with hammered wrinkles, detachable nose plate, rivetted pierced ear plates, long yak hair moustache, later, gold lacquer interior, four-tiered black lacquer throat protector with solid plates with spaced lacing (sugake odoshi) in pale orange leather braid, accompanied with a black metal stand as illustrated


20.2 cm., 8 in. wide

Overall the mask is in good condition, the nose plate slightly bent above the nose as can be seen in the illustration, there is some minor surface wear and slight pitting consistent with age and use, the yak hair reapplied in places, the black lacquer of the throat guard slightly faded, a small area of silk braid detached to the lower left side of the throat protector, the interior in gold lacquer slightly worn and chipped with some lacquer repairs.
