George Lucas commissioned Tom William Chantrell to design this British poster. Lucas liked the final result so much that he used it for the American style C poster. However, it was designed as a landscape format poster and therefore lends itself very well to this British size. The film was released at Christmas time 1977, and scooped six Oscars in February 1978. It was still showing in many cinemas, and this special Oscars style poster was then used.

This was where it all begun back in 1977, when George Lucas brought us the beginning of the Star Wars empire.
