We are grateful to Richard Wills for relaying the opinion of David Oldrey, who identifies the jockey on the trailing horse as from the stable of the Duke of Bolton; he believes that the scene may be at Guildford Racecourse on the Hog's Back.
This painting will be included as cat. no. 28, in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of Seymour's work by Richard Wills, published by Pallas Athene Books Ltd.
