[Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart] Anna (Nancy) Selina Storace

Autograph letter signed ("A.S. Storace"), to an unnamed recipient

noting with pleasure that her correspondent played delightfully the previous night, mentioning the Dibdins, explaining that today has been too unpropitious to expect the gratification of seeing [an unnamed third party], but asking him to use his good offices to urge him to ride over the next day before the rehearsal

...Bravo!...you played delightfully last night...I hope you heard me lead off the encore!...

3 pages, 10.7 x 8.8cm, Herne Hill Cottage, [Dulwich] Tuesday 3 o'clock, [after 1808?,] tiny tear to upper margin

RARE.

A fine letter by the operatic soprano Nancy Storace (1766-1817), who created the role of Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. After a varied operatic career in Italy, famously in Vienna between 1784-1787, and latterly in London, Storace spent the final years of her life at Herne Hill Cottage, Dulwich.
