Second edition of Wilkins' treatise, including discussion about the feasibility of human aviation.


John Wilkins (1614-1672) was one of the founders of the Royal Society. He is notable as one of a few people to have headed colleges both at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.


8vo (168 x 100 mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait, in-text diagrams; some browning and spotting, a few stray stains, dampstaining. Early brown paneled sheep; overall rubbed with loss, gilt on spine and lettering piece renewed.
