Portrait de Lino Invernizzi
oil on canvas
76 by 56.5cm, 29⅞ by 22¼in.
Painted in 1944-45.
The canvas has been re-stretched on a board. Inspection under UV light reveals a milky varnish and sensitively executed retouchings to the extreme edges of the canvas and in places to the composition including to the man's proper left cheek. There are two pinprick sized losses to the centre of the torso and a further two to the upper right quadrant There are some fine lines of craquelure in places, only visible under a raking light. There are surface accretions and some abrasion to the varnish layer towards the edges of the work. This work is in overall good condition.
