The Patek Philippe reference 3945 was introduced along with the celebrated reference 3940 in 1985. The former was offered solely on integrated gold bracelet. The reference 3940 on the other hand had lugs to accommodate a detachable leather strap. Production began in yellow gold, and was quickly followed by pink and white gold commencing in 1988 (so far no platinum versions are known to the market).

Produced 1991, the current watch comes from the second series of production and is accompanied by its certificate of origin, leather folio and box.
