The story of Audemars Piguet began in 1875 when two young and ambitious watchmakers Jules Audemars and Edward Piguet founded the company in Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. For some time, the two watchmakers worked closely together without formalising their partnership. The trademark of Audemars Piguet was officially registered in 1882.

In 1997, as part of their one hundredth anniversary and serving as tribute to the brand’s founder; Audemars Piguet launched the Jules Audemars collection. The present lot stands as an example of Audemars Piguet’s traditional horological savoir-faire, combined with a contemporary yet timeless employment of the latest material improvements. A case in titanium, extremely light in comparison with other metals and perhaps the best material to be used for minute repeaters given their sound conductivity and durability. This watch not only features a minute repeater, which already demonstrates Audemars Piguet’s horological mastery, but also a combination of other complications including a perpetual calendar (with week and moon indication) and a split-seconds chronograph.

In short, this lot provides a rare opportunity to acquire an extremely fine and hard to come by watch which would enhance the scope of any watch collection.
