While the perpetual calendar chronograph function lineage may be considered the most prestigious and popular combination of complications in the 20th century, the combination of the two functions is a relatively modern invention. First appearing with the reference 1518 in the year 1941, the Patek Philippe 1518 was an immediate success and marked the beginning of this highly desired collection. The introduction of the 1518 had led to the many similar watches in the market, but among all, it is its own collection that is the most appealing to all and the sequence of the reference is 1518, 2499, 3970, 5970 and today’s 5270.
The present watch being offered is the reference 5971, being a variant of the reference 5970 but with diamond-set bezel and indexes. While the 5970 is already a symbolic reference to begin with, representing the reinterpretation of the perpetual calendar chronograph with a modern identity for its larger and avant-garde case, it was also the last of the lineage to house an outsourced movement. The reference 5971 was made exactly for the purpose of celebrating the end of the reference and the cease of the Lemania calibre base.
Aesthetically the watch is encased in platinum and embellished with 36 Top Wesselton baguette-cut diamonds weighing approximately 4 carats in total. Offered in excellent condition, this watch will be a privilege to own for any watch enthusiasts.
