François-Paul Journe began his journey as a clock restorer in France and ultimately, the artistic watchmaker created his own brand in 1999. His innovative approach to watchmaking and great talent inevitably made François-Paul Journe one of the most renowned independent watchmakers and the only one to win the celebrated Aiguille d’Or prize three times. In 2008, he won the third time with the present fascinating Centigraphe Souverain invention.
Granted a patent during the process, the ingenious mechanism indicates elapsed time from one 100th of a second to 10 minutes, visible on three unique registers with red time scales. The Centigraphe Souverain is well-designed with an unconventional rocker arm to activate the chronograph, which totally separates itself from the timekeeping segment, thus ensuring utmost accuracy without any energy loss.
Elegant and highly sophisticated, the Centigraphe Souverain distinguishes itself amongst other chronographs and it is a rare opportunity to acquire an example in the collection.
