Professor Arie Ofir was born in Israel in 1939. He graduated from the Bezalel School of Art in 1964 and won a scholarship to study at Georg Jensen in Denmark. In 1968, he opened his studio in Jerusalem and in 1972 became head of the gold and silversmithship department at the Bezalel Academy for twelve years. His contemporary, innovative designs have been shown in The Israel Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Jewish museums in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
