rectangular with cut corners, the lid, sides and base inset with tortoiseshell panels decorated with 18th century three-colour gold piqué point flower bouquets and plants in different coloured golds, within chased entrelac-de-rubans borders on a sablé ground, the corners flanked by Doric columns, maker's mark, charge and discharge marks of Henri Clavel, Paris date letter for 1781,
