Gérald Genta had a passion for discovering new cultures. As an artist, it was a fantastic opportunity to learn new aesthetics, patterns and artforms. His talent was recognized throughout the world. Some of his most important clients, incredibly charmed by the timepieces he had already designed for them, wanted Genta to create other fine objects. For example, this present design was created and manufactured at the request of a Head of State. The Monarch wanted to give to another head of state ‘s wife a very special present.

These designs show a belt with a buckle displaying a hand of Fatima that could be transformed into a pendant. To meet his client’s demands, Gérald Genta had to immerse himself in the culture and aesthetic of his client, understanding their needs and designing a multifunctional, yet beautiful object.

This present lot shows the incredible facets to Genta’s talent and skills. It is also a rare insight into the highly special commissioned pieces that Gérald Genta made throughout his career.
