A William & Mary walnut marquetry month-going longcase clock, Isaac Lowndes, London, circa 1690


11-inch latched dial with winged cherub and scroll spandrels, signed along the lower edge Isaac Lowndes in ye Pall Mall, matted centre with ringed winding holes and date aperture, the month-going movement with five latched, knopped and ringed pillars, five wheel trains and anchor escapement, external locking plate striking on a bell, the restored case with flat top moulded cornice, frieze fret and gilt-capped spiral pilasters to the rising hood, rectangular trunk door with lenticle and inlaid with panels of bird and flower marquetry, the plinth with similar inlay, on bun feet

202cm; 6ft 7½in high

Isaac Lowndes became as Free Brother of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1682. There is no record of him within the Company after 1702.
