typically modelled standing on a circular mound base, the base inscribed R.W. Martin / & Brothers / London & Southall, the base dated 1.4.1902., the flange inscribed R.W. Martin & Bros London & Southall / 1.4. / 1902, enriched in green, cobalt blue and manganese glazes, turned ebonised wood base

the jar and cover 23cm. high, with base 26cm. overall

Overall of good appearence with an area of restoration to the edge of one wing and some minute retouched chips the cover,


Restoration to his left wing approx 4 cm. long and 1 cm. deep, this has been filled and repainted. A small re-stuck chip to its right front eyebrow which has been restored. A small chip further back behind its eye which has been filled and re-touched. To the interior rim of the jar, you can see a ghost of the inscription to the inner flange of the cover. The glaze to the body overall has taken well but has a slightly matt appearance about the bird's breast. Otherwise in good order.

The base has been fixed to the wood stand - this wood stand has a few ebonised flakes to the paint but is generally of good appearance. It is fixed to the inteior of the jar with three screws which have rusted.
