a six-panel folding screen; ink, colour and gold on paper, depicting open and closed fans scattered across the gold leaf and sprinkled gold ground, the fans applied and decorated with various scenes including cats, the Tale of Genji, Murasaki Shikibu, floral sprays, dragons, samurai, peacock, Hotei, flowers and foliage, monkeys, silk brocade border, black lacquer mounts, engraved fittings 


each panel approx. 175 x 64 cm., 68⅞ x 25¼ cm.

The gold ground with some old tears which have been repaired, some patches on the fourth and fifth panel to the gold as can be seen in the illustration, the paper backing with some old wear and minor tears, the black lacquer mounts with some repairs at the corners among old wear.
