Autograph letter signed ("Benj Harrison") as Senator to President James Garfield, regarding Col. William Holloway


1 page (184 x 238 mm) on ruled United States Senate Chamber stationery, Washington, 21 April 1881, docketed "Senator Harrison" on verso; folds reinforced, inlaid.  


As a Senator of Indiana, Harrison writes to President Garfield on behalf of Col. William Holloway: "He is a man of great intelligence, of undoubted probity of character, and of great industry..." Harrison then asks that Holloway be given some sort of formal recognition for his exemplary service.
