oval, the lid centred with an enamel portrait miniature of Nicolas André Courtois with hair en queue, wearing a lace jabot, within rose-cut diamond border, on a dark green enamel ground speckled in red, simulating bloodstone, in a three-coloured gold border of scrolling ornaments around a lime gold rim, on a sablé ground, the sides decorated with oval cartouches painted with putti within gold frames and on similar ground, the dividers chased with turtle doves above altars of love flanked by columns, sprig marks on base only, later Vienna control mark, the left rim numbered: 127
