The lid moulded grip is composed by two dancing figures in poor clothing, lifting the ends of a drape and standing in front of an interweaving stylized plant; the subject is inspired by popular themes. Dancers and plants are richly decorated and painted with bright and contrasting colours such as the engravings of the lid and the base drawstring motif. This particular nuance reminds the lively chromatic range adopted by futurist artists. The porcelain surface is modelled with vertical grooves and sharp edges that are influenced by the Viennese school's models and Cubism. A variant of this model in white porcelain with gold leaf decoration, was exhibited at the Seconda Mostra Internazionale delle Arti Decorative di Monza in 1925. This rare porcelain represents a classic example of the elegance of Gio Ponti’s design for Richard-Ginori manufacture.
