Wall-Hanging Cabinet

circa 1960s

walnut, oak, brass, leather, painted wood

24⅛ x 22¼ x 12¾ in. (61.3 x 56.5 x 32.4 cm)

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces have recently been sensitively reconditioned by a professional wood conservator to restore the beautiful original finish of the piece. The wood surfaces throughout present with some minor irregularities and scattered hairlines inherent to the wood selection as well as light scratches, minor abrasions and small indentations particularly concentrated to the edges as consistent with age and gentle use. The proper right door with a few more pronounced indentations and small losses to the upper corner, the largest measuring approximately 1 ½ in. and likely inherent to the wood selection. The wood with occasional and minor spotty evidence of prior restorations and inpainting, only visible upon close inspection. The exterior of the cabinet is lined with green leather in very good condition with minimal wear, small abrasions and light surface soiling consistent with age and gentle use. The proper left side with a very small tear to the leather measuring approximately ¼ in., stable and not visually distracting. The painted interior is fitted with two removable shelves. The brass handle with oxidation and discoloration consistent with age and gentle use.
