number 5 from an edition of 25 plus 2 artist's proofs
nickels, stainless steel
with welded tag signed Johnny Swing, numbered 5.5404KKW and inscribed LHR
28 ½ x 88 x 32 in. (72.4 x 223.5 x 81.3 cm)
Overall in excellent condition. The nickels have recently been cleaned by a professional metal restorer to revive the metal’s original luster. The nickels present with surface irregularities inherent to the welding process as well as occasional small areas of discoloration consistent with age and the natural evolution of the medium. The stainless steel frame presents with very faint scattered surface scratches and light scuffing consistent with gentle use. A sculptural form characteristic of the contemporary designer’s practice.
