the complete series of four gelatin silver prints, each signed by the photographer in pencil on the reverse, 1964-65, printed in 2019, each from an edition of 75; together with the the Art Edition of David Bailey (London: Taschen, 2019), signed by the photographer in ink and stamped edition on the colophon, accompanied by additional pictorial wrappers and the original bookstand designed by Marc Newson

Limited to a total of 3,000 numbered and signed copies, each edition of the SUMO-sized David Bailey comes with a bookstand designed by Marc Newson and a set of four book jackets. The first 300 copies comprise the the Art Edition and include signed gelatin silver prints of John Lennon & Paul McCartney; Jean Shrimpton; Mick Jagger; and Andy Warhol. Each photograph was printed in a limited edition of 75.

The Consignor is donating 100% of the hammer price from the sale of this and other designated artworks, to be sold during Sotheby’s Contemporary Discoveries online sale held from September 23 – October 3, 2022, to Instituto Terra, a not-for-profit Brazilian organization devoted to conservation and reforestation. In addition, in relation to these designated artworks, Sotheby’s will donate 100% of its Overhead Premium to Instituto Terra and its Buyers Premium, after deducting expenses. No portion of the purchase price is tax-deductible.
