A Model of an Automobile Association DeHavilland

The de Havilland D.H. 89 Dragon Rapide was developed by British aircraft company de Havilland in the early 1930s, becoming a popular choice worldwide for both airline companies and private civil operators. The Dragon Rapide came into the service of the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy during World War II for radio and navigation training, mostly by impressing civilian Rapides, refitting them, and subsequently identifying them as Dominies. Though most Dominies were re-converted and returned to civilian hands upon the conclusion of the war, some remained in service until 1963. This model depicts the civilian Dragon Rapide version in in the livery of the Automobile Association, the British motoring association known today as The AA, most likely around the late 1950s.
