Raingo Frères were one of the Parisian celebrated and well established dynasty of bronziers and clockmakers of the 19th century. The business was founded in 1813 and established at 8 rue de la Touraine by 1830 and in 1841 it moved to Rue de Saintonge. Around 1860 they carried out work for Napoleon III and the Empress Eugénie. As well as making clocks and clock cases in their own right, they acted as fondeurs for a number of important artists, amongst them Pradier, Carrier-Belleuse and August Moreau. In addition, the firm exhibited at many of the important exhibitions of the second half of the 19th century and was known for its fine quality of casting and chasing.
