of breakfront form, the shaped top with four canted corners headed by female figures above a frieze of stylized foliage, above a cupboard door with a pierced ribbon-tied cartouche with a seated figure of Urania, opening to reveal two shelves, the side doors each opening to two shelves, terminating on block feet and shaped aprons

113cm. high, 173cm. wide, 50cm. deep; 3ft. 8½in.; 5ft. 8⅛in.; 1ft. 7⅝in.

In overall good condition. There is a detached piece of moulding to the top of one of the canted corners, this would benefit from being re-attached. The ebonised veneer with minor craquelure, losses and some liftings in places. Some liftings and losses to brass inlays, especially to bands. The tortoiseshell in good condition, with minor craquelure. And the gilt-bronze mounts in good condition, with minor tarnishing, old marks and scratches consistent with age and use. One of the female figures slightly moves but it is securely attached to the cabinet.
