A George III gilt-brass mounted painted sandpaper surtout de table, late 18th/early 19th century


in seven sections, the paper applied to mahogany panels, decorated with circles containing ribbon and laurel and ovals with bouquets of roses within a repeated green ribbon and laurel border, raised on gilt-brass claw and ball feet, in original pine fitted carrying case, the lid with a label printed 'WITH CARE' and then in manuscript 'LADY LAMBTON / SOUTH HOUSE / LONDON / W1'

5cm. high, 356cm. long, 51cm. wide; 2in., 11ft. 10in., 1ft. 8in.

Probably supplied to William Henry Lambton (1764-1797);

thence by descent.
