large 4to (285 x 205mm.), one of 350 paper copies, printed in red and black in Chaucer type, four openings with full woodcut borders and illustration by Burne-Jones, other smaller woodcut borders, small woodcut initials, woodcut printer's device on final verso, original limp vellum with three pairs of fabric ties, title lettered in gold on spine, UNCUT, upper cover slightly soiled and warped, lacking one tie

A fine printing of Morris's medieval chivalric romance, which was several years in production. The first set of illustrations, by Gaskin, were rejected and Burne-Jones supplied a new set.
