16mo (145 x 106mm.), one of 525 paper copies, caption-title, double-page opening of each story with woodcut vine-stem decorative borders, woodcut initials, printed in red and black, original quarter Holland, blue boards with title printed on upper cover, uncut, a few very small marginal wormholes
These two stories were translated from the French by Morris, who found them in a collection of medieval romances printed in Paris in 1856, Nouvelles françaises en prose du XIIIeme siècle. Two other Kelmscott publications were from the same source, also printed in the Chaucer type.
