Gerald Scarfe

Pink Floyd's "The Wall" - Teacher, Wife, Mother and Pink

850 x 595mm. (on 840 x 595mm.), pen, ink and watercolour drawing, captioned "Pink Floyd | The Wall" and signed lower right, minor corrections in gouache

Following the release of Long Drawn-Out Trip, which caught the attention of the members of Pink Floyd for its stylised take on American culture, Gerald Scarfe was commissioned to create the artwork for The Wall, which was released as a double album in 1979. As well as this, Scarfe created animations that were projected onto the stage during their immensely ambitious tour. The artwork is defined by a stark white brick wall that signified the character Pink's means of shutting himself away from a cruel world.
