Description
Gabriele Falloppio
De medicatis aquis atque de fossilibus, tractatus pulcherrimus, ac maxime utilis. Venice: Lodovico Avanzi, 1569
4to (213 x 150mm.), woodcut printer's device on title-page, woodcut initials, woodcut diagram, contemporary limp vellum, binding slightly defective, spine recovered with vellum
These two lectures given by Falloppio at Padua on mineral waters and geology and mineralogy were first published posthumously in 1564, edited by one of Falloppio's students, Andrea Marcolini (whose preface also disputes Falloppio's authorship of the Secreti, lot 102). Falloppio's work on petrification was influential in establishing the true organic origins of fossils.
