'Ski Tracks, Yosemite'
gelatin silver print, mounted, signed and titled in pencil on the mount, framed, an Andrew Smith Gallery label on the reverse, circa 1940
image: 19¼ by 13¾ in. (48.9 by 34.9 cm.)
frame: 30¾ by 24¾ in. (78.1 by 62.9 cm.)
Please note the colors and shades in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings.
This early print, with a semi-glossy surface and mounted to slick card, is in generally excellent condition. Visible only under very close examination are scattered deposits of original retouching and a one-inch shallow scratch in the lower left corner. The mount is discolored along the edges. There is faint soiling and the corners are bumped.
A piece of heavy board is affixed to the reverse of the mount so that it cannot be fully examined. Abrasions on the reverse along the edges are likely due to contact with a previous frame. 'AA/1718' is written in pencil in an unidentified hand.
There is a Shapiro Gallery, San Francisco, label affixed to the reverse of the mat.
When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
