A Shin-shinto wakizashi with Goto school koshirae

Edo period, 18th century 


Sugata [configuration]: Hirazukuri, slightly saki-zori

Kitae [forging pattern]: Tight ko-mokume jihada 

Hamon [tempering pattern]: Ko-midare into the boshi, with a long kaeri, in ko-nie

Boshi [tip]: Ko-maru

Horimono [carvings]: Bonjisukenkanji on the ura

Nakago [tang]: Two mekugi-anamumeimarujiri

Habaki [collar]: Gold

Koshirae [mount]: Black lacquer saya, the fuchi-kashira and are all shakudo with details in gilt, of blossoming peonies, the gilt and shakudo menuki of two chrysanthemum flowers, the kozuka gilt with shakudo, decorated with a chrysanthemum spray, the tsuka is black ito, the tsuba with a katydid among leaves and flowers
