A momonari kabuto [peach shaped helmet] 

The helmet bowl Momoyama -Edo period, late 16th - early 17th century 


the peach shaped helmet formed of two iron plates, decorated overall in black lacquer with a central raised ridge, attached five tiered shikoro [neck guard] with applied mon [crests] of pine tree to the upper tier, the sides with applied ear forms and the conical maedate [forecrest] with mon in gold hiramaki-e depicting ivy (tsuta)


The shikoro to peak: 30 cm., 11¾ in.
