framed: the first: 21.5 x 25.9 cm.; 8½ x 10¼ in.; the rest: 22.1 x 26 cm.; 8¾ x 10¼ in.

This charming series of four still lifes includes apples, cob nuts, quinces and walnuts, all of which are harvested at a similar time of year. Rather than combine the different varieties of fruits and nuts into a single format, the unknown artist has chosen to separate them, creating striking compositions with a modern feel.
