A jewelled gold and enamel circular boîte-à-miniature, probably Geneva or France, circa 1795-1800, the miniature circa 1860
wih circular gold borders and a band of alternating lozenges and flowers on a sable ground, the sides similarly decorated around an engine-turned central band, the hinged lid later set with a glazed oval central band, the hinged lid later set with a glazed oval portrait miniature of Empress Eugénie (1826-1920) wearing rich pearl jewellery, signed P.A.S. for Gabriel Aristide Passot (1797-1875), surrounded by a border of 31 collet-set diamonds

les bords en or, un bandeau de losanges et de fleurs alternés sur fond sablé, les côtés décorés de façon similaire autour d'un bandeau central guilloché, le couvercle à charnière postérieurement serti d'un bandeau central ovale émaillé, le couvercle à charnière postérieurement serti d'un portrait miniature ovale émaillé représentant l'Impératrice Eugénie (1826-1920) portant de riches parures en perles, signé P.A.S. pour Gabriel Aristide Passot (1797-1875), entouré d'une bordure de 31 diamants
