collet-set with a pearl upon a polished section of banded agate, the reverse with glazed compartment containing a lock of hair and the inscription 16th Nov & 14th Dec 1878 From Grandmama VR.

Glass with chip at edge, some discolouration/ residues within compartment. Pearl untested for natural origin, slightly irregularly shaped, rose and green overtones, some minor growth features such as pitting and banding. Length including bail approximately 34mm gross weight approximately 11 grams. Aside from condition of glass, overall condition good.

His son Louis, Prince of Hesse and by Rhine (1908-1968);
His wife Margaret, Princess of Hesse and by Rhine (1913-1997), known in the family as 'Peg of Hesse';
